Winners of a Silver-Gilt Medal
"DIG FOR VICTORY"
At Gardening Scotland in Edinburgh, the Royal Horticultural Society of Aberdeen (RHSA) has again entered an exhibit in the 1m square garden "Pallet Garden". This year our theme was "Dig for Victory" and as you can see from the photo below it consisted mainly of fruit and vegetables. This year there were 46 entries in comparison to 17 last year. We set it up on the 29th of May, it was judged on the 30th and we were awarded with a Silver-Gilt.
Many thanks to all who helped.
In World War II, digging for victory meant helping to feed the nation while reducing the need for imports and saving sailors' lives.
In the 21st Century, digging for victory means helping to feed the nation while reducing food miles and saving the planet.
We are looking forward to seeing the Communuty Garden Challenge entries (Class 1) at our Summer Flower Show at Hazlehead Park on the 30th & 31st of August which will be of the same size and will be competing for the Sally Henderson Trophy.
